Baby Silas |

Tales From The Field |

A journey is unfolding for my family. It has just begun and it has a long way to go. Silas, my son, was born December 17, 2005 at home. When he came into the world he was not breathing. There was meconium blocking his airway passages. He did not take his first breath and cry like all babies need to do. He went without oxygen for a long time, long enough for severe brain damage. We were in the NICU for his first month. We were told he would be medically fragile. A feeding tube was inserted. He was on Phenobarbital, Trileptal and Codeine. At this point my husband and I had so much strength, stamina and hope. When we finally got him home we started putting some of that to work.
Silas started and is still receiving many supports. My husband and I call the group of people “Team Baby Force”. We would not be where we are without these people. They are doctors, manual therapists, healers, family members, visionaries, state workers, and friends. All of this is intertwined with prayers, love, mystery and science.
I want this article to be about one of these “Team Baby Force” members and the work that he has done on Silas. He works in George Town, South Carolina and has been doing a therapy called Bio Cranial on my son for 9 months now. I was guided to Bio Cranial first by an energy healer that I took Silas to in Columbia S.C. He told me that Silas would benefit greatly from this work. He said that it would help his motor skills, his GI issues and make it possible for his brain to grow and re-route. This took me to the computer and the phone book. Why not?! When you receive a guiding light, you can make the choice to follow it! The closest Bio Cranial practitioner is a 3 hour drive away, which my mother-in-law, Silas, my daughter Jasmine and I do once every two weeks.
Silas was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He did not take his first breath which starts the pulse of expansion and contraction in the cranium. The Bio Cranial practitioner calls it the “explosion of life”. On top of not breathing he was given many drugs for seizures. His head is very small. His cranium just got stuck and the Bio Cranial work seems to be re-introducing that “explosion of life”. When you look at Silas you see his criss-crossing of the legs and the tightness of his fascia. He appears twisted, spiraled and his skull bones overlap. Slowly and subtlety, since we have started with the Bio Cranial work, all of this seems to be opening, unfolding and de-spiraling. After the first few sessions, I noticed first…his breath. It was deeper. He was getting oxygen to places that he had never gotten it to before. His skin changed, his ribcage expanded and his cry got louder. He is starting to sleep better. Then came his eyes. After the sessions they would become bloodshot for a short time…only to become clearer and clearer as time past. He is still not tracking but they are fixing on objects. Both the right and the left eye are also aligning and more focused. His eyes are communicating!
After a few more sessions I noticed an expansion in his jaw region…which commenced rapid teething because now there was room for his teeth to come. During this time I also noticed that he was sneezing and yawning often. His face was changing, it has become fuller. Simple things like taking the bottle and sucking the liquid down is now easier.
Silas has started to routinely stretch in the morning. He elongates his spine and scrunches up his face. This made me extremely happy because I knew the more he moved on his own the better his G.I issues would be!
His arms started to move more and they would integrate with his kicking legs. His hands have become looser and more open. His muscles seem to be getting stronger and the deep breathing seems to be helping with his self-soothing. I am so proud of Silas. His will and survival instinct is incredible. He has suffered and even though it is less and less, he continues to suffer. This is very hard for my husband and me. We pray every day that we will get through this.
Since we have been going to the Bio Cranial practitioner there is a de-spiraling action that he does daily. He turns his head all the way to the left. It travels through his whole body and once it finishes everything relaxes and he attempts to communicate. This is when we have seen some smiles. These smiles are the first ones in two years
His other therapists have noticed that he is getting easier to work on. There is less of a Matrix. There is mobility and clarity. All these changes are slow and extremely subtle. Some days I think nothing is happening, or that he just seems to scream louder and longer, but he is never sick, which is a miracle. The progression never stops.
We are going to continue to go and see the Bio Cranial practitioner. My only wishes are that we could go weekly and that the Bio Cranial practitioner was closer but we will do the best we can. I feel honored in being able to share our story with you. I hope this story can help other families and we can all experience hope together. This is just the beginning for us. We still have a long journey ahead. My husband and I are extremely grateful for “Team Baby Force”, which Bio Cranial and the Bio Cranial practitioner is a big part of!
